Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes Singer Dies

Singer Bernie Wilson of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes died in New Jersey on Sunday, following a heart attack and stroke, at the age of 64. He provided baritone vocals on classic hits that include Bad Luck, If You Don't Know Me By Now and The Love I Lost.

Mr. Wilson performed up until the last few years of his life according to his cousin. His death leaves Lloyd Parks as the sole founding member in the current group. After Harold Melvin died they shortened their name to The Blue Notes and Sharon Paige returned to perform with them.

Fans were also saddened by the death of former group member Teddy Pendergress who died this January. Source

New York's Ten Worst Blizzards

So how bad was the Blizzard of 2010 that crippled New York City? Believe it or not we had one worse in February of this year and business went on as usual. Go figure.

This week's blizzard is the 6th worst New York snowstorm since the National Weather Service began keeping records in 1869. The top ten highest snow accumulations in Central Park are listed below.

Blizzard of 2010: Dig Yourself Out Safely

What more is there to say about the great blizzard of 2010? By now you know that it dumped 20 inches of snow on New York City. The big news is that you could not even find a newspaper in the city yesterday.

Times Square looked a little weird with no traffic. Pedestrians walked freely across the street and in the street, as store and building personnel shoveled snow.

R&B Diva Teena Marie Dies at 54

R&B singer Teena Marie was found dead in her California home yesterday at the age of 54. Initial reports say she seems to have died in her sleep from natural causes.

Teena Marie came on the scene as a protege to the late Rick James in 1979. The duo recorded Fire and Desire which ultimately became a classic among love songs. During her music career Teena Marie released thirteen albums and six went platinum. Her hit singles include Need Your Lovin', Behind the Groove, Casanova Brown, and Ooo La La La.

Born Mary Christine Brockert, Teena Marie was nicknamed "Lady Tee." The self-proclaimed "Ivory Queen of Soul" said she developed a love for soul music at a very young age. Her white skin was of no significance to black audiences who loved her for her music.

The R&B diva has one teenage daughter, an aspiring singer who sometimes joined her mother onstage. Lady T will be greatly missed.

Alex Rodriguez Vacations with His Favorite Girls

Scott Clark's Final Days at WABC Channel 7 News (12-24-2010)

If you watched WABC Channel 7 News last night you heard sports anchor Scott Clark narrate what was touted as his final "Hi-Lite Zone." His retirement was announced in June. The actual last day is not really clear but it sounds like we should not expect to see him after next week.

On last night's broadcast Clark said he would still record one more "Hi-Lite Zone" on Monday. Our prior post on Clark's retirement is pasted below.

Scott Clark to Retire (6-21-2010)

Sports anchor Scott Clark, 57, will retire from WABC Channel 7 News when his contract expires in January, after 25 years with the station. He said the road work is beginning to wear him down.

Clark approached management and told them that it's time. They offered to negotiate a deal but he declined.

Once he retires Scott Clark and his wife will divide their time between homes in the Midwest and South Carolina. After he spends much needed time with his wife, children and grandchildren he will test the waters to find work that is less grueling for a middle-aged man.
