The government has created a program to provide free or low cost cell phone service for eligible customers.
Lifeline Service provides a free cell phone, free cellular service and free minutes. There is no service contract and no monthly charges. Unused minutes will roll-over. Additional minutes can be purchased with TracFone Airtime Cards.
Benefits vary depending on the state of residence, and not all states have this service. In order to qualify you must be enrolled in a State or Federal assistance program such as Federal Public Housing Assistance, Food Stamps or Medicaid; OR have a total household income at or below 135% of specified poverty guidelines.
